This game doesn’t live up to the hype. It’s beautiful and the sound design and music are great, but it’s style over substance. The only challenge it can muster is to make the bosses unavoidably fast and have them fill the screen with their attacks. It goes from a pretty fun 2D soulslike to utter cheap nonsense pretty fast. The original base game was alright, but all the changes and additions weren’t good, just *more*. And artificially increased difficulty. Not legit challenges, just beat the same boss over and over, or here’s a guy that’s super cheap. It’s not a bad game, but it’s not worth the amount of praise it receives.
